Exploratory Courses

Beyond the Core: Exploring your Major

While completing the Core in your first two years, you’ll choose 8 Exploratory courses across four different areas of study to broaden your exposure to different modes of thought.

These courses represent an introduction to different majors and specially designed approaches to subjects for non-specialists; you may begin experimenting with your potential major through these Exploratory courses in these four areas: Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing.

The Majors

Add depth, complexity, and a specialization to your education

After discovering and exploring your intellectual talents and interests in the first two years, Fulbright majors offer you the opportunity for deeper study of a particular subject. Fulbright’s majors are based on the rigorous skills training and critical inquiry fostered in the Core, where we encourage you to pursue your intellectual interests with the guidance of expert faculty.

In consultation with an academic advisor, you’ll choose a major at the end of your second year. Each major provides a carefully scaffolded progression of courses that grounds you in the discipline’s fundamentals and eventually trains you to attain a high level of expertise.

Once you have selected a major, you may also choose to double major, or add up to two minors. You may also pursue independent capstone research with a faculty member in the final year.

Fulbright offers majors in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. Many of our majors are interdisciplinary, including our unique Integrated Science, Art and Media Studies, and Vietnam Studies majors.

Fulbright graduates have taken their skills to top employers in Vietnam like Boston Consulting Group, Bain and Company, MoMo, and Zalo Pay, and have been accepted to Master’s and Ph.D. programs in leading universities in the United States and Europe.
